Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar suggested that leaders from the ‘INDIA’ bloc in other states could intervene to resolve seat-sharing disputes within the opposition alliance in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Pawar acknowledged differences within the alliance but expressed confidence that they could be resolved with the help of leaders from other opposition parties. In Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party and Congress are at odds over seat allocation, while in West Bengal the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is reluctant to ally with the CPI(M) and Congress. Pawar mentioned that senior leaders from outside the states might intervene to address these issues. He also mentioned disagreements in Maharashtra over seat allocation within the alliance. Pawar criticized the BJP government at the center accusing it of attempting to destabilize opposition parties through agencies like the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation. He mentioned Congress leader Ashok Chavan’s departure to BJP suggesting it may have been influenced by threats related to the Adarsh housing scam.
