Google introduced a range of new features for Maps last year including Glanceable directions which provides essential information directly on the lock screen when enabled. This includes real time Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) and turn by turn directions. Although introduced in February there had been updates on its availability until recently. Google is reportedly gradually rolling out Glanceable directions globally for users. According to Android Police users are now receiving this feature across devices with version 11.116 for Android and 6.104.2 on iOS. Glanceable directions allow users to view real time updates ETA and the next turn directly on the lock screen or the route overview screen enhancing the navigation experience. Additionally users can monitor their journey using the route overview even without initiating detailed directions by pressing the Start button. This proves useful for confirming routes in familiar areas. Moreover Maps automatically recalculates the route if users veer off course while walking driving or biking adjusting the route preview accordingly. Overall this new feature enables users to stay informed about their route and directions without needing to constantly unlock their phone during the journey.
