Rahul Gandhi is urgently traveling to Wayanad from Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency. He will resume his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj on Sunday afternoon. This decision follows a fatal wild elephant attack in Wayanad, where a man, an eco-tourism guide of the Forest department, lost his life. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh stated that Gandhi’s presence is urgently needed in Wayanad, and he is scheduled to depart from Varanasi at 5 PM. The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will resume at 3 PM tomorrow in Prayagraj. In response to the incident, a district-wide hartal was called by the ruling LDF, opposition UDF, and BJP in Wayanad to address the issue of man-animal conflicts. This led to the closure of shops, business establishments, and a halt in vehicular movement across the district. The Congress yatra, which entered Uttar Pradesh on Friday, will continue its journey through the state before heading to Rajasthan. Spanning 6,700 km across 15 states from Manipur to Mumbai, the yatra aims to promote the message of ‘nyay’ (justice) while engaging with the public along the route.
