Despite facing challenges in alliance talks with the Trinamool Congress and Aam Aadmi Party, Congress leader KC Venugopal expressed optimism regarding negotiations with the INDIA bloc parties. He emphasized that the discussions are in the final stage and a solution could be reached at any time. Venugopal, serving as the general secretary (organisation) of the party, highlighted that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has formed a national alliance committee to oversee the talks, and they are actively working towards a resolution. He assured that a solution will be found, stating, “It is in the final stage. Anytime, it can be finalised.” Venugopal mentioned that discussions are ongoing, and the alliance team appointed by the Congress president is engaging with various parties. Despite some INDIA bloc parties deciding to contest independently, Venugopal expressed confidence in finding a solution through ongoing discussions. This comes in the backdrop of Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress opting to contest Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal independently after proposals sent to Congress were not accepted. Similarly, the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab has announced its intention to contest independently, although negotiations for seat adjustment with Congress are ongoing in Delhi. Additionally, AAP has already announced candidates in Gujarat and Goa.
