Apple has unveiled its latest offering the Apple Sports app providing sports enthusiasts with real time scores statistics odds and more accessible directly from their lock screens. The app currently free and ad free is initially rolled out to iPhone users in the US UK and Canada. It covers a wide range of leagues including MLS NBA NCAA basketball NHL Bundesliga LaLiga Ligue 1 Premier League and Serie A with plans to include more leagues like MLF NFL NCAAF NWSL and WNBA in the future. Apples Senior Vice President of Services Eddy Cue explained that the aim of the app is to provide sports fans with swift access to scores and stats. While users previously accessed real time scores through methods like maneuvering within the Apple TV app or third party apps Apple touts its new Sports app as a simpler and faster solution. Additionally, the app facilitates direct streaming of users’ favorite leagues, redirecting them to Apple TV Plus or their preferred streaming service. CEO Tim Cook expressed his anticipation for the app’s utility during the 2024 MLS season in a post on X emphasizing its efficiency in following favorite teams and leagues.
